Summer Roses -Postcard Friendship Friday #268

What a beautiful day it is today--though the clouds are gathering and there will be showers coming in by this evening.  There is also the possibility of thunderstorms.  Here in Oregon, we rarely have dangerous thunderstorms, so when they come rumbling through, I enjoy them.

This Spring has been amazing.  Plants--roses, fruit trees, vegetables, flowers--are lush and bursting forth in more than normal strength and beauty.  It is the prettiest Spring I've seen in a long time.

And now it is finally summer.  In my garden there is a wealth of beautiful roses, their branches are so heavy they dip to the ground.   Some of my roses are bigger than my hand.  I've never seen them that large before!

Ah, the aroma of roses and honeysuckle fill the air...the sun is shining, and it is a beautiful day.

Summer is here!  Have a beautiful weekend, dear Friends. Thank you for dropping by, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, too!

Memories of You -Postcard Friendship Friday #267

Here in the United States we are celebrating the memory of those who lost their lives protecting their country, our freedom, home and family.  I have great respect for the brave men and women who have given their lives on our behalf.  Freedom is never free.

My own dear Daddy was a prisoner of war in WW2.  He suffered horrific things, he faced death, torture and the awful loss of his buddies.  For years he would not talk about what he'd seen.

Ten years before he flew away to heaven, Dad began to speak of the unspeakable.  He was only 18 when he was drafted into the army.  What he saw and experienced changed his life--his very personality.

I am grateful for his sacrifice, and for the sacrifice of so many others who fought and who continue to fight for freedom.

I will always miss my Dad.  He flew away to heaven two years ago just before Thanksgiving.  Dad and my darling husband are there together.  What a lovely thought.

Have a beautiful weekend, dear Friends. Thank you for dropping by, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, too!

Happy Anniversary -Postcard Friendship Friday #266

This week would have been our 32nd anniversary.  I have chosen to celebrate those years this week.  I will spend time remembering all the beauty and wonder of our life together.  I thank God for the time I was given here on earth with my beloved Alan.

Have a lovely weekend everyone--take time to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you.  Life can be gone in an instant.  Never go through a day without saying, "I love you."  I was blessed with a beautiful life, and a man who told me he loved me every day of our life together.  I celebrate that amazing love today.

Thank you for dropping by, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, too!

Soon it will be Mother's Day.  I have such a lovely Mom--she has been an incredible encouragement to me throughout the years.  and now she and I are widows together, of all things.  I am wondrously blessed by God to have such a vibrant, encouraging, loving Mother.

God bless all those Mothers out there who love their children with such wonderful unconditional love.
